Mixed-Level Classes: Translating the Light

Tuesdays and Fridays, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Weekly | $50

Open to all levels of experience. However, if you're a complete beginner, we recommend taking a beginner class first.

In this 3-hour class, instructor Betsy Jacaruso will guide you in interpreting the landscape from photo reference to a successful composition. We will explore various watercolor techniques, color mixing, and value, while encouraging each artist’s individual style and sensibility. We’ll finish with a share and discussion of our work.

Beginner Watercolor II Workshop

This workshop is a continuation of Beginner 1, where we will build on our understanding of color mixing and painting light through a still life exercise. If you would like supplies provided for a workshop, you can add them as an option when signing up for an additional fee. For mixed-level classes, supplies can be provided for your first class upon request, also for a fee.

Cancellation & Refund Policies

  • In any circumstance, please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your workshop as they are in high demand, with limited spots.

    Cancellation Policy:

    • More than 2 weeks before the class: Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the workshop date will be eligible for either a full credit towards a future workshop or class. No monetary refunds.

    • Within 2 weeks of the class (but before the week of the class): If you cancel within 14 days but before 7 days of the workshop, you are eligible for 50% credit towards a future workshop or class. No monetary refunds.

    • During the week of the class: Cancellations made within 7 days of the workshop are non-refundable and not eligible for credit.

    • Event Cancellation (by the Studio): In the event that the workshop rescheduled due to inclement weather, sickness, or other unforeseen circumstances, and the student cannot make the new date, they will receive a full credit to use towards a future workshop or class.

    Explanation of Policy:

Our workshops, limited to 11 participants, are taught exclusively by Betsy Jacaruso, who also leads regular weekly classes. As these workshops require extra effort, we enforce a strict cancellation policy to prevent financial loss.

With limited spots and a waiting list, a no-show prevents others from attending and makes it hard to fill the spot last-minute. Early cancellations help us fill spots and allow participants time to prepare.

Last-minute cancellations cannot receive full credit, as it results in occupying two spots (in different workshops) for the price of one, which impacts our small business's sustainability.

  • Cancellation Policy for Weekly Studio Classes:

    • Rescheduling (Up to 48 Hours Before Class): You may reschedule for free up to 48 hours before the class. No monetary refunds will be issued.

    • Cancellations (Within 48 Hours of Class): Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the class will incur a $25 charge.

    • No Shows or Same-Day Cancellations: If you do not show up or cancel on the day of the class, the full class fee will be charged.

    • Studio Cancellations: If the studio cancels the class, due to low sign-ups, schedule changes, or unforeseen circumstances, a full credit will be issued. If necessary a monetary refund can be issued.

Please understand that these policies are in place to ensure fairness and sustainability for our small business. Thank you for your understanding!
